Ruminations on a Wed 8/4/2010...500 things to do before kicking the bucket

About time to hit the sack......today a good day, hired a RN and a marketing rep for my company AbleCare.  I'm planning on growth over the next 6 months.  Right now my company is stuck in purgatory, we are hovering between success and survival mode.  Been here for several months now, really stressful place to be.  With a few more admission we will be back to were we were a year ago, the recession has hit us this year, seen a large reduction in new admits plus our nurses have been doing a great job resulting in increased discharges.  Will get several new admits, then match with some or more discharges, frustrating way not to grow and get to where I must be to do well.  The nurses who left back at the end of 2008 left us in a huge hole that we slowly have dug out of, still have more digging to do, if we meet my set goals for this year, we will be able to do so much sooner.

Last week had a great mini-vacation trip to Austin, visiting our friends the Pattersons.  We went to see the state capital building, learned more about Texas history, and toured a beautiful building.  The desks the senators use are over 100 years old, the building is being restored to the early 1900's.  Was very hot, we cooled off in our friends swimming pool.  Tricha and friends went shopping at the World Market on Sat while I played with and took Emily swimming.  Emily did well on the way to and back from Austin, better than I expected.

Today was another working day, look over finances, started closing the books for the first six months of the year.  Tricha and I went to Bodacious for lunch, and I left around 4:30 to pick up Emily from school.  Tricha made a great Fish dish for dinner, afterwards Emily and I played hide and seek.  We ended up in the guest bedroom playing peek a boo and jump over dad to the pillows.  Bed time came around and she was not happy about that, had a little tantrum, was not ready for bed.  Tricha rocked and read her a book, then to bed she went.  Tomorrow will be mommy time, no school for her.

This Sat. is my birthday, Tricha is planning a dinner at Caces with family and friends.  Will be 39, lived almost half of my life.  Tricha gave me a book on 500 things to do before you kick the bucket.  Going through the book I found I had done many things in the bucket list.  I have done a balloon ride, gone to Carlsbad Caverns  (3 times), toured a newspaper plant (I worked at one), toured Hover Dam, climbed a tree, snorkeled in the Caribbean, swam with stingrays, learned to ballroom dance and many more.  Some interesting challenges I'd like to do among many would be hike the appalachian trail, visit several national parks, go to New York sites like the empire state building and the statue of liberty, visit the Grand Ole Opry, and many more.  The one thing I will NOT do is eat Rocky Mountain oysters (otherwise known as Bull testicles).  Time to get a move on, only a good 40 years or so left to get some adventures in before heading out for the biggest adventure of them all!
